trinity

at 5:29 a.m. on July 16, 1945 a false sun exploded over Trinity, and man forever traded away wonder for reason

Daniel Knauf

every year the trinity site opens on the first saturday of oct/apr.  every year protesters gather outside to raise their voices for an issue much greater than monday morning bragging rights. these locals own ranch land in the surrounding area and have, for generations since the 40’s, since the first ever atomic bomb was tested, dealt with radiation sickness in themselves, in family members, and in livestock.  the us government has yet to acknowledge their claims.

it’s an interesting, and arguably necessary, juxtaposition – the site and the celebration, the indignation and the resolve.
all synonyms for patriotism.
