This work is an extension of the american made machines series – moving the work from a flat projection into a literal immersive environment. Using projection and liquid smoke, I gave the light of the project – the contemplative space – a body and some measure of materiality. In this, as with the greater body of work mentioned above, I’m not only interested in creating and navigating embodied experiences, but exploring the social, emotional, and existential impact of technology on contemporary life.
Ultimately, I’m working towards a more reflective, calmer, and intentional experience inside of this dynamic. I hold a greater desire to push back the horizons of the possible while redefining the body’s relationship to efficiency, to productivity, to time, to curiosity, to play.
