They have forgotten about the existence of humans

Two voices.

1) In May of 2020, at the height of COVID quarantine, The Sumida Aquarium in Tokyo made an unlikely request, “please FaceTime our garden eels.” The eels are sensitive creatures, so much so that a few days without their keepers means they forget about humans. This causes them to hide when approached and, ultimately, fades their health as both literally and figuratively, these eels run from what feeds them. They retreat from the very system which they have been conditioned to rely upon, calling into question whether or not they should rely upon said system in the first place. Be that as it may, if we are to bring the eels back, we must gently reach out to them so that they remember that not only do humans exist, but that they not harmful.

2) The accompanying writing is taken from various communications sent out by CU Boulder administration, stressing their enduring gratitude for employee flexibility and sacrifice during this trying time.
